City Council Chambers

520 W. Elberta

To Our Neighbors on 550 West,

You may be unaware of the development request for the property between our road and the golf course. It is proposed by the current owner/developer that a change be made to the number of houses that can be added to that space in favor of a higher density residential zone.

This development is currently proposed to start at the south end of the property and eventually go as far north as the property line allows.

The planning committee has already heard this petition and over turned it, however, it has been brought instead before the city council requesting that the council opt instead to allow the higher density zoning change and subsequent development.

Our Request of You:

  • Please scroll to the bottom and sign the petition requesting the city council deny this request

  • Review the letter from Jeff Bolingbroke to the city council

  • Come on Tuesday, 10/29 to the meeting at the city office - presence at this meeting will make a tremendous impact in the outcome.

550 W. Neighborhood Letter to the City Council

Summary:

This letter to the City Council expresses concerns over a developer’s request to change zoning (R-5) and amend the general plan, which would allow higher-density housing than currently permitted. The author, a planning commission member and nearby resident, argues that the R-5 zoning ordinance was created for a specific location and should not be expanded citywide. He highlights multiple reasons for denying the developer's requests, including potential future overdevelopment if these changes are approved, misalignment with the city’s existing general plan, and the possibility of the

R-5 ordinance allowing increased density in unintended areas

Petition to the Council:

Following this letter, we invite Pleasant View residents to sign this petition in support of maintaining our city’s current zoning and development standards. By signing, you join our community’s call to preserve our neighborhood’s character, avoid overdevelopment, and ensure thoughtful growth aligned with the city’s general plan. Together, we can urge the City Council to deny the requested zoning changes and amendments to safeguard our community’s future.
